Oddly, there was a continuous stream of ants going up and down the trunks of a Ligustrum lucidum (Glossy Privet) cluster. Only a few were bringing down leaves.

We finally found a good thing about Ligustrum: winter fodder for leaf-cutter ants.

This clump of bird feathers was on the ground in my neighborhood. It looks like a bird was killed a couple of doors down and I think these are from that bird. There were a couple of similarly colored but smaller downy feathers there. The longest of these feathers is just over an inch long.

This 6 ft tall shrub volunteered in a flower bed. I let it be for several years but it’s going to be too big, so it had to go. But I’d like to know what it was.
