In late February and a few days in March, we flew to Albuquerque to visit my wife's family and friends.
While in NW Albuquerque, we visited the Rio Grande Nature Center, a New Mexico State Park. From there we walked down to the Rio Grande riverbed, which was quite shallow due to an ongoing drought. The retreating shoreline was becoming heavily vegetated, mostly by introduced plant species like this Cocklebur.
While in Albuquerque, we returned to the Rio Grande Nature Center the next day to check out the waterfowl and turtles on Leap Day 2024.
