As with my two other rattlesnake encounters I came near and heard the rattle before seeing the snake. This ought to have been the most visible, being in the gutter of the curb of a road circling Dunbar Historical Lake, but scanning the road cut for wildflowers, I did not see the snake until the persistent buzzing finally attracted my attention. I had earlier opted to not wear snake boots.
