Flying solo over the Connecticut.
A couple Double-crested Cormorants were hanging around at the bridge, which are unusual at this time of year. This one was close enough for a decent photo.
Length 2 1/2 to 3 feet. large dark bird; thin bill; orange to throat.

Seen on lilac bush in north Charlotte
at least 4 on the road.
Larva on Prickly Ash.
Giant Swallowtail in my garden. The first one I'd seen in Vermont!
