along a stream in a little valley in Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest maybe 15 miles west of Grants Pass, elevation about ~1200ft (370m)
Whorled foliage. A really late flowering individual ( usually I see them bloom in July)
And God said, "Let there be shin oaks"
A massive thicket of shin oaks near the top of this ridge—at least 100 shrubs of various ages and sizes. All were flowering and just starting to develop acorns.
I believe this is two shin oaks growing in close proximity. There are at least a hundred more just upslope. Both flowering and with acorns that are just starting to develop.
One of at least 100 shin oaks growing in close proximity. Locally very abundant
