Found growing in hard dirt next to the side of a moderately busy two lane road, among other plants. The flowers were teacup-shaped and about two-three inches in diameter. Flowers were bright orange with four petals each. The leaves were green with red tips. The weather was 70°F and sunny, after a lot of rain for the past three weeks.
I saw this plant next to the ivy, I figured it must be a species of fern based on its leaves. Perhaps it is an offshoot of a plant once planted by humans, but this one was surely grown in the wild.
