In a commonly disturbed area near a tree with sandy soils
They were doing well in this upland forest where there was little leaf litter and lots of oaks. Especially prevalent near the slopes and deer trails. From what I know this species is blooming very early.
I took inspiration from @propullans to find this population at 7 Mile creek. Such a cool adaptation to the dense forest shade. I’m hoping with the lack of snow, just maybe there will be an influx of flowers this summer!
