Sicily Island Hills (JC "Sonny" Gilbert WMA). Habitat: roadside in hilly upland hardwood forest/mixed pine-hardwoods
This is yet another of those times when I wish I knew more about bee behavior.
This bee kept walking back & forth on the leaf... sometimes peering over the edge, and even reaching out as if it wanted to walk to the next leaf vs. fly.
What was it up to?
4.5” in length. Thickness of an index finger. Found on a holly bush. Is this a tomato hornworm or possibly a Rustic Sphinx Moth caterpillar?
I saw these LeConte's Sparrows in 3 different locations on my hike today. I will enter as separate obs. This is 3 of 3

These are three photos of the same individual. Phillip Wallace and I saw at least 20 of these butterflies in a few hours, all on Ligustrum flowers, in several cases with 2-4 in view simultaneously.
