The annual Eriogonum maculatum is not common in the area of the Idaho National Laboratory and was found only at this site at the south end of the Lemhi Range just south of the Black Canyon Wilderness Study Area, northeast of Howe, Butte County, Idaho. This may represent a northeastern range limit for this this species. The combination of annual growth habit, basal and stem leaves, and glandular involucres, and inflated tepals distinguish this Eriogonum species.
