A water sample was taken on 6/15/2021 using a 10 micron dip net to enrich for microorganisms.
Only observed it for a brief while as it glided forward. Didn't see any metaboly.

This species is characterized by the combination of short peg-like spurs with interspace (arrowheads) and the dorsal toes (arrows) which are permantently expanded.

Found in a small vase with reddish colored water.
The red color is due to exposure to intense light of spring.

The long (~90µ), transparent, intracellular rod (slightly bent) is a paramylon starch body https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramylon, https://www.britannica.com/science/paramylon.

Ciliate, I think. Cilia are best seen in photos 3 & 4. Not moving.

I never thought about Protista until this class, it’s very interesting how they are some organism that exist that are not as known
