Lifer! My biggest needs bird for the state!
Found resting/basking on a small log in the middle of the Clinch River while I was kayaking during a survey of Clinch River State Park. First iNat record for Virginia (second at time of posting), first record for Russell County, and farthest north iNat record. Appeared to have two chunks bitten out from shell in different locations and at least two leeches attached near the tail. Released after a minute right where it was found.
Posted for a friend. The western sides of Buckingham and Appomattox Counties form the eastern edge of this species' known range in central Virginia.

F.O.Y FINALLY. This snake was my nemesis for so long. I tried to get him to pose with his mouth open, but he seemed not bothered by me, even when i picked him up...
Continuing rarity.
Lifer. 4 seen. 3 in one Bush with 2 Northern Watersnakes, and one in a small cluster of plants about 10 feet from the same Bush. One heavily gravid female.

Found dead on road. Two more adults found very close by the next day.
