Wildfires near Chernobyl
There are wildfires very close to Chernobyl. This has the potential to release a lot of radiation. The fires are already well within the no-go zone around the plant, areas of high radioactivity.
The fires are in the news [https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-52274242] but nothing is mentioned about the radiation threat. I remember reading that this (re-release of radiation) is still an issue in the US Southwest also where atomic tests were done, if the ground is disturbed or there are fires.
