Mackworth Island is always a stunning place to visit. I ended up taking many more photos that what I've posted. I still found very little animal or "bug" life, even though there was so much decay in the trees and even on the shorefront. Because of that, both Friday and today I looked for signs of past life, since I was unable to find anything crawling around.

Yesterday I took many pictures and was struck by how difficult it was to find things to capture. We are just coming away from below freezing nights, and there are a lot of new sprouting plants. I saw one spider in two days of watching. I didn't see any other crawling things. There are squirrels and chipmunks and some birds, but I've been unable to capture them yet! There will be so much more to take pictures of in a couple of months!
