Sam - lab 5 handout - research on Marasmius Oreades

The Marasmius Oreades (or Fairy Ring Mushroom) is a small, light brown mushroom common in North America as well as Europe. It got its name from the fact that it often grows in rings. It has numerous culinary and medicinal purposes. Indeed, it has been found that it can have antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial and antibiofilm properties in strong doses. Finally, it can also be used for the biological remediation of bismuth, a metal, in polluted soils.
