Today my mom and I went to Horicon NWR to look at water birds. We ran into a few friends from Sand Bluff Bird Observatory that helped us find birds that we wanted to see. One man played a Virginia Rail call and it came up very close to our feet. This was on the boardwalk on the circular drive in the refuge. Then we went to the State Wildlife Area to walk on that boardwalk. Here we saw several wood ducks, green herons, and blue-winged teals. I had a wonderful day birding with my friends, and I cannot wait to visit again.
