An immature Phyllophaga crenulata? They're those common bugs every year all over around now. This one isn't hairy though. I see that as the weeks go by the beetle dying on the ground are larger, and one had hairs on it.

Reasonably sure on ID, I'll update if wrong. You can see in this image how the end of its bum curls up. I'm not sure what that means yet, if it is a sex differentiated thing like with robber flies.
