Not sure of this iNat ID, since no gilled mushrooms nearby. Doesn't look like puffballs. According to Baroni, form that parisitizes Armillaria looks like this - but didn't see Armillaria nearby either.

Recorded in area. All likely killed early by saltspray from Hurricane Lee. Seeds and pappus too large for asters or goldenrods. Dead leaf had large, pointed lobe typical of this species (lower right).
