2 years ago Peter Marriott passed our images of a flightless female to Glenn Cocking at ANIC, who recognised them as Philobota.
Yesterday Marie found two of them copulating. The first time we've been able to link the male & female; and so hopefully get a species id.
The female seems to have different markings to either of our previous finds, so Philobota sp ES4.
We've had sub-zero (-3 deg) overnight temperatures for nearly a week now. So it seems they are not bothered by the cold.
We've placed the female in a container hoping she'll lay eggs and we can get caterpillars & pupa images as well. As well as time periods, etc.
Because Marie found them on the ground, wandering around, we don't have any idea of their food source. So Marie found a variety of vegetation in the immediate vicinity. She put some lichen in there as well.

We can't be sure the crystaline image is related to these two specimens. Ian Gibbins suggested "looks like something that has crystallised as it dried", which makes a lot of sense and hence means it's not related to this pair. I'll leave my original thought here for completeness:
***
It could be a discharge from him, or a previous specimen in the pot. Hopefully it's not an egg mass. I'd be surprised if she laid them immediately on the side of the pot. It does look a bit crystalline. Pretty sure the black blobs are frass/scat/faeces.

On here Merophyas is a synonym for Clepsis, but on Atlas & Bold Merophyas is still used.

Oncodosia sp?

Only got 2 photos, the 2nd is horrible, but gives a side view.

While the body colour & hairs match up fairly well to Reiner's obs

The wing venation looks more like Comptosia, perhaps Comptosia pilosa from Yeates' wing venation diagrams.
