Growing out of a thin layer of rock cobble, on a sandy saltwater beach.
Height: ~70cm
The seaweed was washed in by waves from a recent storm that passed offshore, and would not have been there all summer.
Possibly germinated from a seed dropped from a picnicker's bag of unroasted snacking seeds?

Plant now bagged and removed by NS Department of Lands and Forestry park staff, due to proximity to pier, and risk of human contact. Plants of the same species were removed nearby the previous year, for the same reason.
