It was unusual to witness this eagle hunting a Cormorant. The battle lasted 30 minute and the fast diving of the Cormorant saved its life, the Eagle moved on exhausted from the repeated dives and aerobatics in the high winds

Late in the year for a great blue heron, and this bird was not fussed with my motion nearby to take the photos which is unusual for camera shy blue herons

The reason I submit this heron is the lateness of the season. Last week there were two wayward herons and one may have since died as I can see a grey mass in the reeds through my lens. This one is haggard looking and passes long hours with his back to the biting early winter winds. Today when the sun came up and the day warmed, he stretched and took flight to another area of the marsh.
