Interesting observation of two adult males in one tree. Observation occurred in an area that both males were seen to use at different times. The younger male "Bungaleenee" (pic 5) was higher in the tree. He had been known to live in this area since 2011. The older male "Vincent" (pics 3 & 4) was lower in the tree, he had been known to live in this area since 2008. The younger male was seen in this tree alone at 8.25am, so Vincent must have moved here between then and this observation. They were watched from 11.07 until 11.32, no action seen. Pics by Scott Roberts.

A very large ant, 10-12mm long. Alone. Appeared to have something on her head, looked like the head of a smaller ant? Maybe a growth. Habitat: sandy granite area, open woodland.

3 ants wrestling, another 4 in attendance. The wrestling ants were locked together for the whole time I watched, seemed to be a serious altercation. The attendant ants stayed interested but didn't join in. What were they doing? They were all the same species, was one an intruder from another group?

I have no real idea. I thought possibly ants, but none seen around and none emerged when I tapped it. Also this was the only structure of its type I saw. Not a wet area, it was in a sandy track at the top of the range. Habitat is heathy woodland, ironbarks, stringybarks, grass-trees, bush peas, dianellas

Many nest openings in a sandy area on a track. A few ants near openings, but I didn't see any go into nest. Ants were small, about 5mm long.

Audio from a video recording, with two screenshots to show action. This is a recording demostrating the calls of a subordinate male koala responding to the approach of a dominant male. All the vocalisations are from the subordinate male, the dominant male made no sound.

The subordinate male was handing upside down at the end of the branch and could go no further, vocalising. The dominant male was grabbing at him, but the contact was fairly light and ceased soon after this. Filmed by Brett.

Both males are known to me, the dominant male is Winberry who had been living in this area for 8 years at this time. The subordinate male is Bindjali, who had been seen on and off from 2013, but not very frequently.

Recording converted from mp4 in premiere elements, then reduced to mono in Audacity. No noise removal or amplification applied.

High in Yellow Gum, spooked by a Koala climbing up into its space. Flew out with a squawk, landed nearby. Over the next ten minutes moved up into a mistletoe where it couldn't be seen. Light colour and small size compared to Grey-headed Flying-fox, also vocalisation was quite different.

Foraging at ground level at first, then flew up into tree near me. Young adult female I think - brow still seems to have some warm colouring, throat and faint breast streaks present. Wing feathers still have warm edges.
