One clump of this grass was found growing in full sun in the open grassy meadow a bit southeast of Power-line Pond. Outer culms are leaning towards the ground at an angle. Soil is Crockett fine sandy loam. Associated plants: Cynodon dactylon, Nassella leucotricha, Bromus, Cynanchum unifarium, Galium aparine.
Beaks of perigynia serrate
Leaves blades are sandpapery to touch.
Perigynia with a few weak veins on ventral and 6 or so veins on dorsal surface.
Pistillate scale is 3-veined, covers the perigynia. Measures 4mm long x 2.2mm wide.
Outer culms leaning out of the clump at an angle.

Growing in small clumps sporadically dispersed among grasses dominated by Cynodon dactylon. Plants are growing in full sun just east of Power-line Pond. Soil is moist fine sandy loam. Associated plants: Cynodon dactylon, Rubus trivialis, Bromus catharticus, Galium aparine.
Inflorescence of 5 terminal gynecandrous spikelets.
Perigynia are widest near the middle with a few distinct veins, esp. on the dorsal surface. Perigynia measure ca. 4mm long (including the beak) x 2.5mm wide.
Achenes are lenticular (2 style branches) ca. 1.9 mm long x 1.3mm wide.
Pistillate scales ca 3.3 mm long with acute apex.

These plants are growing in full sun, midway along the north side of the "South Fenceline Trail" (adjacent to the second house). Soil is fine sandy loam. Formerly a stand of mature Loblolly Pines, the area was severely burned in the Pine Pond Fire in 2022. Multiple standing dead trees are around, and many trees near the trail were recently cut and cleared. Associated plants: Gamochaeta pensylvanica, Baccharis neglecta, Agrostis hyemalis, Dichanthelium sp., Phytolacca americana, Juncus dichotomus, Scleria ciliata.

These plants are growing in full sun, on the "South Fenceline Trail"as it intersects the turn that goes to JD Creek (at the top of the ravine). Soil is fine sandy loam. Formerly a stand of mature Loblolly Pines, the area was severely burned in the Pine Pond Fire in 2022. Multiple standing dead trees are around, and many trees near the trail were recently cut and cleared. Associated plants: Gamochaeta pensylvanica, Baccharis neglecta, Agrostis hyemalis, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Phytolacca americana. Vernal form
