I came across this October spider on my way to work at about 9:00am. The Ohlone Greenway is chock full of amazing wildlife! A great place to take a slow meditative walk. What does a spider teach you?

Majestic. Before he spread his wings and flew away, his eyes looked into ours. An awe-inspiring moment, and the most brilliant and breathtaking bird moment yet.

Heard steady, slow drumming onto tree bark. It was difficult to capture a photograph. I think I spotted more than one. I thought I saw red in at least one of the bird's head, but the photos don't show this. Had white strip down back. It was quite noisy and quite beautiful. This is a great place for birding.
