Very hard to see and they flew so fast! Afraid this is just an i - phone photo as the zodiac we were on was going through the icebergs and the snow petrel would sail on the wind and zip past. Simply breathtaking. I feel so blessed.

Their courting ritual was so sweet as the male would go and pick up a pebble and take it as a gift and would keep doing it. At times it was accepted and they would mate. If unaccepted she walked away! There were other males who happily came and stole pebbles from others as they went off to find that perfect pebble!

This fun little bird kept me company as we camped in the snow. He/ she pecked at my sleeping bag and then decided to rest awhile and keep me company! It was a great distraction as it was freezing needless to say!
Sheathbills are the ibis of Antarctica and hang around Gentoo Penguins as they enjoy their poop!
