Once upon a time a small boy crawled into a mud puddle in pursuit of a frog; three-quarters of a century later he continues to do so. In between he received a Master's Degree in Vertebrate Ecology, worked as a biologist and naturalist with State and Federal agencies, and ended up teaching. Now retired he has reverted into an itinerant naturalist who continues to crawl into muddy places in pursuit of whatever lives therein. Over the years the frog turned into Lithobates pipiens; the boy into Homo contentus.
