I have recently taken on the role as Chair of Environment Council for Clear, Stoney and White Lakes in the Kawartha Lakes region of central Ontario. I recently retired from a 33-year career in the field of conservation biology including work with Parks Canada in species at risk recovery in Ontario and as Manager of Resource Conservation at Pacific Rim National Park; with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as a Science/Policy Advisor; and with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources in various capacities including: Senior Fish Habitat Biologist, Species at Risk/Invasive Species Biologist, and Great Lakes Restoration Coordinator and Science Operations Supervisor.
I have extensive experience designing and implementing ecosystem monitoring programs that are used to report on the state of ecological integrity and enhance science based decision making.

I see a great opportunity for the Environment Council to collaborate with First Nations, colleges and universities and local, provincial and federal governments to design and implement an ecosystem based monitoring program for Ston(e)y, Clear and White Lakes.
