Thank you jwalewski, for "enlichening" me to Trevor Goward's 1 page article. It's lovely.:

I am SO HAPPY to have discovered iNaturalist!! I can't wait to upload my hoard of observations!! But that might take forever, because I keep getting distracted with identifications! :P

I truly enjoy being outdoors, appreciating every little thing I encounter. I often frequent the same locations, observing the seasonal changes to the flora & fauna.

I'm an avid photographer (on my goofy cellphone)... taking pics of anything and everything that is new to me (or location). I truly enjoy coming home and researching all that I encounter. I'm most interested in correct identifications, and the various uses of plants & fungi.

** Just because a species hasn't been observed/recorded in the area, doesn't mean it CAN'T be present. Unless it's a Sea Pony on Assateague. :P
** I've notice many times, people use common names and [mis]observations to help identify their observation (which just multiplies the problem). :(
** I'd rather error on the side of caution, and take things to Genus.

Something that drives me nuts::::

  • Why do observations show up in Genus/Species photos if they aren't Research Grade?!?! If we can filter by location, we should be able to filter the grade. ;)

A bit more about me >>> I was born and raised in Northern California. I've traveled up and down the Pacific Coast. I've lived in Santa Cruz, CA and Santa Fe, NM. I've traveled through CA-OR-WA-AZ-NM-TX-NV-UT-WY-CO-KS-MO-IL-KY-TN-GA. I've traveled to Canada, Mexico, BVI and USVI.

We live in Liberty, Missouri, USA and have a cabin on acreage we built with our own hands down by the Lake of the Ozarks. I'm "old-school" enthusiast and I love to learn new things (hence my iNat ID). I enjoy gardening, canning, freezing. I can't have livestock (yet)... so I settle for feeding my "herd of worms" my kitchen compost. ~LOL~ I am an avid hunter, fisher, and responsible forager. I have challenged myself to only purchase seasonal vegetables and cook (or stock my freezer) with what's currently available. I bake bread, make homemade mustard and mayo. I just began the adventure of cheese making!!
