Saturday 9:40-12:00 pm: 61 dead newts found, no live newts
Weather - sunny but really cold. Rain MTD 2.09 in, YTD 3.02 in per http://www.weathercat.net/wxraindetail.php
I documented 61 dead newts, only 2 of them juveniles. Most of them were pretty dry, others were a bit more fresh.
Other roadkills: 1 Jerusalem Cricket and a few centipedes and millipedes, and 2 birds.
Coverage: north part - the county park parking lot till the second stop sign.
It was pretty busy - Traffic: 1 garbage truck, 59 cars (including County Parks), 23 bikes, 27 pedestrians, and 75 cars parked by the road.
I met the HTH team on their way back. They said they had no live newts, not sure about the dead one. I found one dead newt in front of their array, and marked it with chalk.
