A Rocha trip to Waiwera Hills
One of our members recently brought a section in the Waiwera hills; so on the 28th August we all went out to take a look. The property runs from estuary, salt marsh, coastal forest, regenerating totara forest on farm land. Unfortunately not all the observations and photos wanted to upload themselves from my phone when I got back.

It was interesting to see how authorities are demanding certain standards concerning care of wetlands.
As for the landowning group, I wonder what they see as the principal aim in the care of this piece of land. There are animals and fruit trees and native and introduced trees and shrubs and some weeds. Some trees have been roughly pruned and developed strange shapes. .Should one aim for some future use by someone or make ones own native forest? Jim Hunt
