Giant Rodents Invade CA as Assembly Bill 273 Urges Ban on Trapping Fur-Bearing Animals.

Thanking his colleagues Bob Blumenfield and Mitch O'Farrell for their leadership and partnership, he proclaimed, "We're excited to bring an end to a cruel and inhumane practice."

Now the issue has captured the attention of San Diego Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, who wants to see all commerce of fur-bearing mammals stopped by the latest symbol of California's humaneness, AB 273, a very complex bill in the Sacramento legislature to ban trapping of fur-bearing mammals or nongame mammals.

Gray Whale Woes in SoCal.

“Gray whales generally stay around the continental shelf and are truly a coastal species…[and] migrate relatively close to shore,” the Marine Mammal Center writes on their website. “Concern has grown about the impact of boat traffic around whales, and the number of boats allowed in the breeding lagoons is restricted. Along the migration route, boats’ proximity to whales is also limited.”

Puget Sound’s southern-resident orcas wow Monterey Bay, California, in rare sighting.

Southern resident killer whales wowed California on Sunday, with more than 30 members of L pod seen in Monterey Bay, including the oldest member of all the southern residents and the newest baby.

Touching seal pups in selfies can cause them to slowly starve to death, animal group warns.

As harbor seal pup season arrives in California, the San Francisco Bay Area’s Marine Mammal Center, headquartered in Sausalito, posted a warning on Facebook about the dangers of hands-on interactions with baby seals that are resting on the beach.
