DePauw Nature Park's first BioBlitz was a success

Just a note to mention that the first 24-hour DePauw Nature Park Bio Blitz was organized by senior Michael Troutman (DPU class of 2021) on April 25-26, 2021. The Bio Blitz has its own project on iNaturalist, but I wanted to note here that eleven observers submitted 229 observations (53 of which are now research grade). The stats for the bioblitz indicate 135 species were named (so far), with several more awaiting identification. About 60% of the observations were of plants, and 19% were birds. We'll do another Blitz soon, maybe during the 20th anniversary of DePauw taking over the management of the site (in 2023-24).
