July 17 - Planning

Hi!

This coming Sunday I want to have a chat with you all about the future of these meetings.

I need to know what you all want to learn and talk about, the logistics of the meetings, and how we want them to look in the future. I want this to be a collaborative effort so that those of you who are interested can have a serious voice in the planning and execution of our teaching material.

Please join us this Sunday, the 17th, at 8 pm EDT, with the following Zoom information:

I am in Oregon right now and will miss the next two meetings.
Here are my inputs:
I am very interested at this point in being able to ID to the family level. Working with/through the Keys you and Even have put together are helpful to me. I tend to be a person who has to piece together an ID, and am not very good at "quick" responses - At 65, my recall of new material isn't generally super fast.
ID'ing flies on iNat is an interesting activity that I want to be able to do a few hours a week with accuracy at family level and beyond with some of the more obvious species.
I would also like to be able to quickly narrow down a fly to family in the field as I lead insect related walks for the nature preserve where I am a board member and volunteer.
I think I am slowly getting a better handle on the organization structure of the families.
When I ID, I am using a combination of materials that start with your Keys, then Reference Books, BugGuide, and DrawWing.
I find a combination of sources useful.
I appreciate the time you are putting into this and I know from experience that it takes a while to fine-tune an education program.
