This week we'll review our knowledge of the Dolichopodinae and learn some of the other subfamilies as well..
As always, our meetings are completely informal, and everyone is invited to speak their minds and ask questions to the group. Participation is vital for learning!

Alas, I can tell that I am just never going to have the time to devote to fly ID, no matter how enticing they are and no matter how well structured these Zoom sessions are. Sorry about that! It was exciting to find Condylostylus caudatus complex (thanks to your ID help) in our kitchen sink March 02, after bringing a frozen bag of potting soil from outdoors into the warmth of the house. I looked in Proctor's Insecta of the Mount Desert Region 1938 Survey and found (after checking ITIS.gov) this species hiding under the pseudonym Psilopus caudatus, collected July 15-25 at Salisbury Cove (less than 2 miles from here).
