Join us at the Saltwater State Park Bioblitz to catalogue every living species we can identify!
A Bioblitz is an intensive one-day study of biodiversity in a specific location, bringing scientists and volunteer citizen-scientists together. We’ll look for land and sea snails and slugs, birds, salamanders, frogs, insects and their aquatic relatives, invertebrates, fish, plants, seaweeds, and everything else we can find!
People of all ages and skill levels are welcome!
Bring your smartphone, ipad and/or a camera, your curiosity and tons of enthusiasm. Bonus: Binoculars and magnifying glasses. Together we’ll make some great discoveries, get to know these places and each other better!
We will increase knowledge of the species within our park and increase our knowledge of birds, plants aquatic life and animal species found in our park on land, in McSorely Creek, the intertidal zone and in our underwater park!
TO REGISTER: Look for the sign to the classroom just before the ticket booth. Come to the classroom to register and get more information. Be sure to come back to the classroom to check out and add your list of species to our running tally of all life observed.
TO ENTER YOUR DATA: You can enter your observations in iNaturalist. If you don't have an iNaturalist account it's easy to sign up for one. There is an app for your smart phone, either iPhone or Android so you can enter your observations as you go OR you can submit your information on the website. We will have computers available. Let us know when you register.
The Bioblitz will run only on Sunday, July 10, 2016, starting at 8am ending at 6pm.
