How to:
To use this project, simply
- add it in the "Add a Project Box"
- choose your vegetation type and click ADD
- click ADD at the very bottom to add the project.
You cannot use this project unless you know your vegetation types. There is a cell phone app that will do this for you, or you can use the Vegetation Book, or you can go to http://bgis.sanbi.org/vegmap and explore there.
If you are really keen, we are looking to photograph our vegetation map types. For these we want photographs of the vegetation rather than the plants. But for this to work on iNat, you need to have the most dominant species (or choose any dominant species) as the link species.

I just noticed that St Francis Dune Thicket is shown with the code AT49 in this project, but the pdf document that I downloaded from http://bgis.sanbi.org/Projects/Detail/208 shows the code for St Francis Dune Thicket as AT57. I have assumed the name is more important than the code for it when selecting the field in the project.
Whoa: the Thicket types have been revised and will change dramatically soon. I am just waiting for the new list and I will add them when I get them. Just been discussing this with the other project curators ...

By the way, the 2018 carrymap for mobiles on the SANBI site is a blank zero byte file. The 2012 version is fine. The desktop 2018 one does work (in QGIS) though.

I apologise for the current upload of NVM 2018 Carrymap version. We are aware of the problem but have to wait until someone on the BGIS team can help us change the file. hallo, could you direct me please to where you have descriptions of the various fynbos vegetation types? I am looking all over and can't find the dummy's version :-)
I found a list: but not found descpritions for each category: something novices can use?
