I am a retired Land Surveyor having spent over 50 years in the field (and the office) and was always a keen observer of anything nature could throw at us. I am a sustenance hunter and catch and release fly fisherman, a slightly better than average birder, and an observer and photographer of wildflowers, birds, and animals. I almost always have a camera and a pair of binoculars with me and on any trips I go on, my fly fishing rods also go with me. I now have an electric-assist mountain bike that has replaced my old 'pedal' mountain bike and it enables me to go a little further a little faster on the hilly terrain on the Sunshine Coast. Lastly, I belong to three hiking groups on the Sunshine Coast and try to get out hiking twice a week for four to five hours each time on the great hiking trails on the Sunshine Coast. We have members who are very knowledgeable on geology, birds, trees, flowers, and animals and we stop to observe anything we find interesting and point it out to the other hikers. I like to think of myself as a true steward of the land.
