The greater weever, Trachinus draco, is a weever fish of the family Trachinidae which is less common than the lesser weever.

It lies buried in sand waiting for small fish. It's dorsal fin consists of strong spines with poison glands which can inflict an extremely painful sting.

Description 4

Body elongate, length more than 6 times height. Greenish in upper parts, yellowish-white oblique stripes. Small 2-3 spines in front of each eye (Ref. 35388).
