In the photos above I have chosen the tangle ferns to illustrate this point.
The first photo shows the front of a tangle fern and they all look fairly much alike.
The second photo is the back of the leaf - this one is the Gleichenia dicarpa
The third photo is the back of the leaf - this one is Gleichenia microphylla.
You can quite cleary see the difference on the back which is why you must take photos of the back of ferns.
