Finally came across a non-venomous snake in the wild! I was able to have a teaching moment with my pups, to show them what a snake is and for some avoidance training, that was relatively safe! This guy was constantly moving around inside the tree hollow, so I included a few photos; hopefully, they help with the ID!

It was found near FM-1488 near Conroe, TX in a pet supply store (not part of the live animals available). It has some dog hair on it, but otherwise it was fine. I’ve never seen a frog with that patterning and slight yellow color on the hind legs.
