This tree has been re-planted by local people from the Batak tribe. The incense from this tree is one of the main livelihoods of this trip at Cleopatra's Needle, Palawan. A local conservation NGO Centre for Sustainability is assisting the tribe in their reforestation efforts.

Please note that this specimen is dying. The species is being endangered by the illegal trade in dried specimens and by habitat conversation as most lowland forests in Palawan continue to be converted for development purposes.

First observation and pciture of this species in-situ since its original description. Found along slopes of small creeks in primary forest habitat only. Species is severely under threat as it occurs only in one forest area that is not protected.
