This is a bee-like insect that is making it's nest in the foundation of my parent's garage. My mom got stung by one while sitting on her front steps. (The first two pictures are of one that got stuck on a pool noodle. The third is where these bees(?) are flying in and out of in the foundation of three garage.) It's coloring is much darker than a typical bee, but it is fuzzy like a bee. It's nearly all black, with only a little yellow on the abdomen right behind the head.

This thing is creepy huge! It can carry a dead cicada and fly short distances with it. It was digging a whole in sand, while still holding on to the cicada.
