This project is to help researchers narrow down the possible pollen types that they find collected by bees (especially corbiculate bees) in Minnesota and nearby states/provinces. Plants produce pollens of various colors and those colors are modified slightly when bees add nectar to the pollen to pack it and attach it securely to their corbiculae (pollen baskets). Having a set of images of pollen loads of bees on flowers, with the observation field identifying the flower taxon, will be useful for current/future projects that involve identifying bee-collected pollen. menos ↑
