We're happy to announce another online meeting! Here are the details:
This week we'll be going back to our roots - Condylostylus! Last time we looked at these flies was December 2021, so we're due for another shot at 'em. Condylostylus longicornis is the most common species in the Southern US, and also the most misidentified. Our main goal this week will be to work down the number of needs ID observations of the species.
Just as a reminder: our meetings are entirely informal, and everyone is invited to speak their minds and ask questions to the group. Participation is key to learning!
Please leave a comment either to let us know if you're planning to come or to subscribe to be notified of future events! Questions are also welcome.
The Zoom meeting will open at 8 PM EDT on Sunday the 25th.

Hey Zach, I went looking for the C. longicornis guide to educate myself on this species, since I'm not sure whether I attended the previous ID meeting or not. I looked in the December 2021 posts in the journal, but it wasn't there, but I dug a little deeper and determined that it was actually in November of 2021. For anyone else who wants to look at the guide/video that you posted for that previous meeting, they're here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/flies-of-the-us-and-canada/journal/59782-nov-21-id-event-condylostylus-longicornis
In December we revisited C. longicornis by learning about the entirety of the genus Condylostylus in the Western US :)
So, technically, December was the last time.
Ohhhh, got it! Thanks! I missed that because I was looking for Condylostylus in the meeting name or information....totally missed the fact that Condylostylus was part of the Western Sciapodinae meeting. Looks like I should still spend my time on the November guide for the upcoming meeting though.
