Last Day!

Today was the last day of this self-guided Bioblitz at Spring Creek Prairie SNA! Thank you to all of our participants, we have so many great observations, phenomenal pictures, and a wonderful range of organisms documented! Stay tuned for the final results and prizes, which will be posted here in the journal as well as on the SNA Facebook page next week!

First time participating in a bioblitz...how do we see the other photos and documentations?

Hi,

Here is the link to the project: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/spring-creek-prairie-sna-self-guided-bioblitz-2021

You should be able to see all of the photos and identifications made there.

Thank you!

I didn't see any of my observations, so I must have done something wrong. How do I tag the bioblitz in my observations from that day? Or did I just miss that and they are there?

On your observation(s)'s page, there will be a tab for projects. To add it to this project, type Spring Creek Prairie SNA Self-guided Bioblitz 2021 and it should let you add the observation to the project.

When I try to add it, it just highlights " Spring Creek Prairie SNA Self-guided Bioblitz 2021 " in red but won't let me save it. I can add it as a "tag" though. But not sure if that will get it to the right place.

I think adding it as a tag will tag it to the project and it will be in the right place.

Tried to do a batch edit to add my observations to the project and got this error message: collection and umbrella projects do not allow direct submission

I have a theory. Could you try adding them to the general Spring Creek Prairie SNA project instead of the Bioblitz?

Thank you!

Publicado por minnesota_scienti... hace casi 3 años

You would have to walk me through how to do that.

Publicado por safechrislaurie hace casi 3 años

On your observations when you do the batch edit for the project, type in "Spring Creek Prairie SNA" and see if it will let you add them to that project.

Publicado por minnesota_scienti... hace casi 3 años

Ugh. Still says no results found. Do you see anything on your end?

Publicado por safechrislaurie hace casi 3 años

So...here is what I am doing:

Batch edit.
Selecting those photos from Spring Creek Prairie SNA
back up at the top I hovered over Add a Project and found the spring Creek Prairie SNA.
I hit add
Page automatically went to your page, but I still didn't see my submissions. Does it take awhile to show up?

That sounds like the correct procedure, but I'm not seeing them in the Spring Creek Prairie SNA project. I know sometimes things in iNaturalist take a while to load/show up, etc. but this seems excessive.

I have another idea. Do the batch edit and select Spring Creek Prairie SNA Self-guided Bioblitz 2021 in the Add a Project tab. In your batch, exclude the winsome fly observation that has Wild Turkey Ln address as the location. Only include those that have Spring Creek Prairie SNA as the location. We'll see if this works!

So...I changed every single location to make sure it said Spring Creek Prairie SNA....did another batch edit to add to project. Here is the response I got that said nothing could be added: None of those observations could be added to the project "Spring Creek Prairie SNA Self-guided Bioblitz 2021": collection and umbrella projects do not allow direct submission.

So...I must have something mismarked in my observations, but I don't know what!

Hi Laurie,

Sorry for the delay in reply, I was out Thursday and Friday last week. I have another idea on why the observations aren't in the project. The location accuracy is currently set too low for the observations. I found a forum post from iNaturalist staff explaining this here: https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/help#placeindex

For reference, observations that are currently viewable as part of the project have a location accuracy of 20-30 meters. Since your observations have a 1km accuracy range, they are breaking the "boundary box" of the site, and therefore aren't being featured on the Bioblitz project page.

Hopefully, this will allow them to be featured!

Does that mean I have to do something different or that you changed a setting and now they will show up?

Publicado por safechrislaurie hace casi 3 años

Also...how do I view the observations again? I can't ever seem to find the project.

Here is the home page for the Spring Creek Prairie Bioblitz: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/spring-creek-prairie-sna-self-guided-bioblitz-2021

You will have to batch edit the observations. Once you've selected the observations to edit and it takes you to the editing screen, under the "where" column there should be a blue hyperlink edit next to the longitude measurement. Then where it says "Acc (m)", you'll want to change that value to something small, like 5.

If that doesn't work, please let me know!

Okay, Wow! This was a big learning curve for me. But, I think I got it. Please let me know. It's like 91 observations.

Great job! All of your observations are now on the project page and they look wonderful! Thank you so much for your patience as we've been working through this.

Publicado por minnesota_scienti... hace casi 3 años

Oh, that's awesome! Thank you for your patience in helping my navigate the submission process!
