After blacklighting from ~3AM to sunrise, I joined Stefan's group from 8-10AM and then hiked out with Joshua until around 11:45. I then tagged along with Trudy (shoutout to young Valentin and his amazing questions!) and a few other visitors until 12:15.

Visited Green Turtle Hammock thanks to Patti's recommendation.
Had a nice day in the Upper and Middle Keys. I came down to give a talk to the Garden Club of the Upper Keys in Tavernier at 11AM and spent the rest of the day bioblitzing a few spots. More info about GCUP here: https://gardenclubupperkeys.org/

In a wetland area threatened by a highway the county wants to build (Kendall Parkway). I hiked out to a small tree island to document some of the biodiversity very close to where the highway would pass through.
I posted a video about this area and the threat from the highway a couple years ago: https://youtu.be/zCTnIi3oCJI
There was a brush fire in the area last March, which probably benefitted the plant diversity but the tree island seems to have not been burned. News reports/videos about the brush fire from late March 2022:

Saw it on a golf course as it was burying something it had caught in a sand trap. I think it most likely lives there and is very well used to humans as it came within 20 feet of me while I was taking some photos.
Teen Missions property, in brackish marshy habitat among sawgrass.
Walking around the pine rocklands of Long Pine Key. Lots of solution holes in this area.
I also did some blacklighting after the sun went down, setting up two sheets. Here's a link to my blacklighting observations: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?on=2023-01-04&place_id=any&project_id=blacklighting-florida&user_id=joemdo
