Found these a couple weeks ago in predominantly hardwood forest with a couple scraggly conifers in the vicinity also. Taste and spit test not interesting. Nothing notable about smell, either. Growing terrestrially, as I recall.

Comments: distinct odor, ranging from cucumber-y to farinaceous, depending on who was smelling. note sclerotia (?)

Super bulbous base, above the margin of the bulb staining purple, below the bulb margin staining burgundy!

Very wispy cortina, yellow cap, white flesh subtly staining purple near the edges.

Growing totally buried with just the top of the cap barely showing, in an oak hardwood stand, in mucky soil.

As a waxcap enthusiast, these were one of the most interesting collections I've ever made. Growing in white sand between forest edge and road. Poorly formed gills, mostly ridges and smooth hymenium on young specimens. Flat pileus. Large fruiting, (especially since most Hygrocybe spp. encounters involved only a single fruit) over 20 mushrooms, very small stature. Location approximate.

Growing terrestrially, solitary in a dry-mesic oak woodland/savanna on calcareous sandy soil.

Stem entirely purple and pruinose. Cap not as scaly as in I. cinncinata. I. griseolilacina has a stem that isn't pruinose and usually only purple on the upper half

On well-rotted wood most likely from a conifer.

Tubaria confragrosa is the best ID I've been able to come up with, so far. But the exaggeratedly broad-campanulate caps don't seem like a great match for this species. Also, the scattered gregarious growth, thin flesh, and narrow gills that closely follow the contours of the cap seem like a poor fit for Tubaria.

Seems to growing on buried wood in a diverse rich woodland. Asarum canadense was the most abundant plant around. I didn't see any Anemone or Ranunculus in the area of these fungi, although they are present on the site and nearby. The fungus was common in this area.

I'm using Dumontinia as a placeholder for now, since it's the best match I've seen so far and I can't find much info on Sclerotiniaceae. I'm not sure if the flatter shape of the caps, even at early stages of development, are a good fit for Dumontinia. And the stalks might be too pale and straight

Ascomycete Fungi of North America “ fruitbody a subiculum on wood, moss, or the ground; up to 5cm in extent; initially white, then pinkish cream or buff and finally apricot, remaining white or lighter at the margin.”
I have seen this apricot patch at few locations in the same day. They are always next to the Anamorph of Hypomyces ochraceus. I thought they might have some kind of connection but did not know how. Description from AFNA helps me realize what this is – another form of H. ochraceus.
