Weevil found inside irradiated mango fruit seed from Australian imported mango. Collected at Countdown supermarket Henderson, Auckland.
MPI notified and killed by freezing.
The irradiation treatment did not kill it, but likely rendered it sterile.

On the underside of pigeonwood leaves (Hedycarya arborea).
Thrilled to find a wild flowering M. carminea vine beside the track. The vine was growing on a tall tree fern trunk (no fronds) that had snapped near the base. Possibly from the weight of the vine.
A M. carminea vine was planted at Arataki Visitor Centre nearby over the hill, about 10 years ago. Wondered if there's a possibility the wild vine self-seeded from the planted vine?
July 2019 update: current status of the vine, looked dead but showing signs of life: https://inaturalist.nz/observations/28712258

Kokako pair Francis & Zelah have taken up residence on private property opposite the boundary of mainland sanctuary Ark in the Park. The pair are obsessed with checking themselves out in any reflective surface, and have been spotted at neighbouring properties looking in windows, and on cars looking in mirrors.
The pair have nested on the property and produced a healthy chick which is preparing to fledge. Watched the pair feed on lawn weeds (incl. dandelion leaves), rewarewa flowers, kanono leaves and fruit, kiekie fruit and pukatea.
Fun, short video of the pair in the video link field.

On mahoe (Melicytus ramiflorus).
Found with several over members of the blue fleet, mid-incoming tide, NW onshore wind, washed up with the drift-line.
