Favoritos de jamruss

Octopus found at Tawharanui Regional Park in a rock pools at low tide. Was half hiding under a rock while using fragments of shells and rocks almost as a shield. Some photos show a tentacle reaching out and gathering more 'debris' towards it. Some help identifying the species will be greatly appreciated, as well as possible tips on how to identify New Zealand octopus.
