My first and only ever encounter and obervation of one of these spectacular falcons. It stayed long enough to be photographed ( from a distance) and then it flew.
Third photo shows a comparison between the stems of Blue-Fruited Dogwood (on the left) and Red Osier Dogwood (on the right)
While doing homework on a bench, this chipmunk jumped on to see what I was doing. I let her take a look but she only got to the search bar and gave up. So I put on some of my chipmunk pictures for her to see. Posed for observation https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/129984459
"Furry" was born in the spring of 2022. Recognized by her very furry tail and her frequent habit of standing up.
This observation is not for the tiger, it is for the Eastern Chipmunk on the right.
Meow! This is the best photo we have had for this species in the area this year. We had one other poor image from further north in the spring and a amazing series of photos were in the news a couple winters ago from near Balsam Lake Provincial Park. Delighted to have confirmed L. rufus for the Wildlands.
