I heard a couple calling and thought they were A. perulata. I went to investigate since I don’t have many A. perulata observations this summer. When I located it and saw it I realised it lacked wing infuscations and the colour and wing markings were not typical of A. perulata. I realised that this was A. interclusa so I caught one for photos. New species for me!

No way! I haven’t seen a Yellow Monday in suburban Sydney in years! (although I don’t know if this is just my experience?) This was a jaw-drop moment when the student showed me.

This is an example of what is in the bush where I am. There are cicadas everywhere - almost like flies - particularly the black princes.

Followed a calling male only to find him trying to chat up the female (successfully by the looks of things ... although she was playing hard to get)

Found this individual because I heard a cicada call I didn't recognise. When I followed it back to its source, lo and behold, there was a cherrynose cicada.
This is the first and only one I have ever seen or heard so this was an exciting find for me!
